Many people want to lose weight. There are two major benefits to reducing your body weight to the ideal range for your height – firstly, your overall health will improve, and secondly your appearance will change for the better. Looking good is important to most people, and it improves their self-confidence as well.

Losing weight can reduce the chance of developing diseases like high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes and osteoarthritis.

Paying careful attention to your diet can help to reduce the effect of diabetes and the other risks of being overweight.

Doctors generally recommend that you lose weight by increasing the amount of physical activity you perform, and make changes to your eating patterns. Eating healthy food is extremely important, because most of the over-processed convenience food we eat is not very good for us.

Other ways to lose weight include the use of supplements or drugs which block the absorption of fat, decrease your appetite, or reduce the volume of your stomach.
