If you have carpal tunnel syndrome, you might need to reduce inflammation your body to either prevent carpal tunnel syndrome or at least subdue the symptoms. If you have inflammation, this can cause even greater swelling of the ligaments and joints so the pressure is put on the median nerve, which can cause CTS symptoms to flare up. How can you reduce your information?

Most CTS anti-inflammatory treatments begin with NSAIDs (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) like ibuprofen or aspirin. If you have difficulties with aspirin or other NSAID medications, of course you won’t be able to take these; in addition, some say that you should stay away from aspirin anyway if you’ve got carpal tunnel syndrome because the blood thinning caused by NSAIDs can simply make symptoms worse. If you can take these, though, you should be able to get over-the-counter versions of these drugs, and therefore not need any prescriptions. Make sure you take the drugs with plenty of water, so that your body can fully absorb the active ingredients and therefore make the best use of them. These drugs will come with instructions, which you should be careful to follow. They’re not benign simply because they’re over-the-counter. So make sure you follow directions, which will usually say that they should be taken every four to six hours, not to exceed a certain dosage within 24 hours. Make sure you follow label directions carefully. These drugs do cause side effects such as stomach bleeding if not respected, so make sure you do.

In addition, you can help carpal tunnel syndrome symptoms by minimizing use of the wrist that’s affection as much as possible for about two weeks. After this amount of time, you can try to use it more and see if taking the NSAID medications made any difference. If possible, wear a wrist brace at night to further stabilize the affected wrist and help it heal. If it’s not feeling much better, you should see your doctor and ask for further intervention. Special anti-inflammatory drugs only available by prescription, such as corticosteroids, may be able to help your pain. These are more powerful than the drugs that are available over the counter, and they do contain steroidal medications, which may have side effects.

Other anti-inflammatory pursuits to follow include changing your diet such that you include more omega-3 fatty acids, found in cold-water fish, flax seeds or pumpkin seeds, as well as in smaller amounts in walnuts or canola oil. Olive oil, too, can also help reduce inflammation, even though it’s not an omega-3 fatty acid. Reduce or even eliminate your consumption of red meat, and make sure the cuts you do eat are very, very lean if you must have red meat. Reduce consumption of dairy products and replace some of it with soy products, which also have anti-inflammatory properties. Focus on eating lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, especially green, leafy vegetables. Fresh or frozen berries, too, are good choices to include in your diet as long as they’re not overly processed and don’t contain high amounts of sugar. Ideally, you want to eat unadulterated foods as close to their natural state as possible. For the time being, eliminate as many refined starches as you can, including potatoes and corn, and focus on whole grains only.

If you think this is excessive to treat carpal tunnel syndrome, at least give it a try before you make a final decision. You may find that making these changes so improves your symptoms that the small amount of deprivation you feel by following a much stricter diet is absolutely worth it. In addition, there are some exercises you can do to strengthen your hand, wrist and forearm so that your CTS symptoms are reduced or even eliminated.

There is a fairly new product on the market today for treating carpal tunnel syndrome. This CTS treatment is known as the Carpal Solution. It is claimed that the symptoms of CTS–numbing, tingling, and wrist pain, and the accompanying lack of sleep–are often relieved by the Carpal Solution in just a few days.

It’s light, thin and easy to store or travel with; making it a convenient treatment for CTS as well. Touted by its makers as the best carpal tunnel syndrome treatment, the product is claimed to be safe, effective and powerful enough to cure even advanced cases of CTS in as little as six weeks. A quick and complete cure for CTS is something which CTS sufferers have long dreamed of; a treatment which lets them relieve the pain and discomfort and finally get a restful night’s sleep free of the disturbances caused by CTS.

The Carpal Solution is designed to be work while sleeping and only while sleeping; once you wake, you can remove it and go about your day without your CTS treatment causing you any sort of inconvenience. The product won’t interfere with work activities or even athletics!

This product means that you don’t have to go for any drug injections such as cortisone shots. You also don’t need to have any kind of surgery. You have saved yourself a whole lot of money and aggravation by being able to avoid those treatment options, assuming this one works for you. And, since it’s not restrictive like the other immobilization and pressure-reduction wearable treatments, you don’t have to worry about muscle atrophy if you use this treatment, either. (This has been a known side effect of extensive use of such devices.)

The Carpal Solution does have a great many benefits, and many people would find it a superior alternative to surgery and drugs–assuming that it works. But would it work for everybody? It operates on a lot of the same foundation as the night-splint type treatments–and they don’t work for everybody. There are physical exercises that you can do instead to cure yourself of your CTS. They are safe and free, and can be a permanent cure for your CTS.

Since women have a higher risk of developing carpal tunnel syndrome than men do, they will be interested to know about the available treatment options that are non-invasive. By implementing a regular routine of massage techniques that target the problem areas, nobody will have to suffer from the pain associated with carpal tunnel syndrome. Women and men that are will to self-administer proper massage techniques as well as a few carpel tunnel exercises will be able to greatly reduce their need for pain killers that have been helping them avoid surgery.

Researchers are not certain as to why this is, but it is estimated that women are as many as three times more likely to be diagnosed with CTS than men. Some estimate women may be at greater risk simply because a woman’s carpal tunnel is typically smaller than that of the average man. CTS are also a side effect of pregnancy as some women retain fluids that gather in the carpal tunnel prompting pain on sensitive tendons and the median nerve located there.

Other people who are at risk for carpal tunnel syndrome include diabetics, people who suffer from obesity, individuals with arthritis and those who work with their hands for long hours at a time. CTS does not generally strike children, as most cases of it are reported in working adults. Those who perform jobs on assembly lines and who work as seamstresses seem to be particularly affected with carpal tunnel syndrome over time.

There is some good news for people that suffer from this painful and sometimes debilitating condition. There are a number of very effective home remedies that can easy the pain and discomfort associated with carpal tunnel syndrome. By doing daily massages to the hands, wrists and forearms for at least twenty minutes, a person should notice a great deal of pain relief within just a few weeks. The massage techniques should include short, pressure filled strokes in order to be effective. If work is done that requires lengthy use of the hands, frequent rest periods are recommended.

The massage therapy should be used in conjunction with proper carpal tunnel exercises. These exercises not only work the muscles of the wrist, arm and hands but they also hemp promote increased circulation which can reduce swelling of the carpal tunnel’s tendons that have caused the pressure on the pinched median nerve. Carpal tunnel exercises include movements that demand some resistance from the fingers and palms and movements that will help the hands and wrist to endure prolonged stretching motions so movement of the affected tendons and nerves can be restored.

Many people believe that a diagnosis of carpal tunnel syndrome limits their options and will greatly lower their overall quality of life. They feel that the only real option is surgery, but nothing could be further from the truth. Many people have been able to reverse the affects of carpal tunnel syndrome with self treatment and lead full lives. By exploring non-invasive treatments for carpel tunnel people can become empowered to find a treatment method that is effective for them.

Carpal tunnel syndrome happens when the nerve located on the inside of the wrist, the median nerve, is pinched or compressed. The result can be severed pain in the wrist and hand. Carpal tunnel syndrome can stop a person from taking care of routine day to day tasks since the pain can be excruciating. In addition to the pain, movement of the thumb and next three fingers can becme restricted when the median nerve is stressed. It is not uncommon to feel numbness in addition to the pain which can make doing simple activities like holding a glass or a pen nearly impossible.

This condition can be caused my many conditions including obesity, wrist injury, repetitive activities, pregnancy, obesity, and arthritis. Carpal tunnel syndrome can also be a side effect of smoking since the blood flow to the median nerve will be restricted. No matter what the cause is, most people that have the condition will experience the pain and discomfort that interferes with their lives. It is common for people that have this condition to seek help from their physician and may even opt to have surgery to relieve the pressure and pain.

It is important for those who suffer from carpal tunnel syndrome to know that there are non-invasive measures that can be taken to relieve the pain of this condition and to prevent further damage to the median nerve. If a particular activity is aggravating the nerve, it is advised that the activity be stopped and the wrist allowed to rest. During rest periods, applying ice to the area can also help.

Many people find the most relief from the carpal tunnel symptoms with massage. By applying self massage for a few weeks that are focused exclusively on the forearm, wrist, and hand, the pain can be lessened considerably. After several months of consistent carpal tunnel massage therapy, full use of the wrist and hand may be restored. Since the median nerve can also become restricted close to the spinal area, massaging the shoulder area and upper back can often give substantial relief.

While apply a carpal tunnel massage, use elongated strokes and rubbing motions along the forearm while the fingers, wrist, hand and elbow are extended. With proper massage the median nerve will be encouraged to decompress and is significantly soothed which will reduce the pain.

Any exercise that employs resistance techniques along with aerobic activities are highly recommended since they can strengthen the arms, shoulders, and back in a way that will reduce weight which can cause undue strain on the median nerve.

Many people also use a brace to provide support and optimal posture for the hand while reducing inflammation and stress. Using a brace along with carpal tunnel massage therapy and carpal tunnel exercise that lasts at least twenty minutes can greatly reduce the need for surgery. Additionally, these steps can prevent further damage.

Carpal tunnel syndrome can be an agonizing condition to endure. Because the pain indicates a damaged nerve, it should never be ignored and the activity causing the pain should be ceased as early as possible to prevent further damage. Carpal tunnel syndrome can interfere with proper motor functioning, but with proper care, carpal tunnel exercises and regular massages to the area, the median nerve can be restored as well as pain-free use of the hands.

I receive a lot of emails from people who have questions about the usefulness of carpal tunnel wrist braces and night splints. To be honest, when it comes to these devices I have mixed feelings, since I’ve seen many patients who have been fitted for a wrist brace or who wear night splints to relieve the pain they suffer from carpal tunnel. Occupational therapists design these braces in order to immobilize the hand; this reduces the swelling and inflammation of the carpal tunnel, which in turn eases the discomfort. The reason these devices make me uneasy is because they require immobilization, and any time a muscle or joint is immobilized, it loses function.

Reducing movement of the afflicted area might reduce pain, but it’s important to remember that it’s not a cure for your carpal tunnel symptoms. Using a wrist brace or night splint to rest the joints and muscles in question can indeed be helpful, but our bodies require movement and motion to properly function. Ultimately, using a brace for your carpal tunnel isn’t a cure, it’s a band aid. Real solutions will only be reached by working on postural muscle imbalance and discovering and eliminating the causes of your body’s imbalance in the first place.

When your body remains in the same position, day after day, for too long – for instance when you have to sit in the car or in front of a computer for hours every day – a condition known as postural muscle imbalance can develop. Certain muscles become underdeveloped and gradually lose their function, while other muscles increase to compensate. Over time, these muscles will stop maintaining the normal S-curve of your spine and peripheral joints such as elbows, shoulders and wrists. This is what causes the symptoms of carpal tunnel.

The longer this occurs, the more extensive the damage will become, which could eventually cost you the use of your hand for several months. This isn’t merely inconvenient, it could impede your ability to provide for yourself and your family. Other symptoms such as lower back pain, headaches, and “frozen shoulder” are also the results of postural muscle imbalance.

If all of this sounds a little alarming, it’s supposed to. When it comes to your health and your future, you simply can’t be too careful. The sooner you deal with the source of your carpal tunnel pain, the better. To resolve your issues with carpal tunnel, you’ll need to regularly follow a series of simple postural muscle balance restoration exercises. Wearing a wrist brace or night splint is not the solution, since these devices only offer temporary relief.

The carpal tunnel is a chamber in the wrist that also contains the median nerve, which offers feeling to the thumb and the next 3 fingers. When the median nerve becomes compressed via such things as injury, excess body weight, fluid retention or arthritis, the resulting pain and reduced mobility is referred to as carpal tunnel syndrome. It is not uncommon for people who suffer from this condition to be compelled toward surgery and to require regular use of pain medications. However, many have experienced relief through carpal tunnel massage and even exercises that can reduce the impact of carpal tunnel syndrome.

If the flexor trigger points and the extensors of the forearm are treated with long and pressured strokes continuously for two or three weeks, the median nerve compression can be relieved. If the therapy is continued for a longer period of time it is possible to reverse the condition and eliminate the need for risky surgery. Normally, surgery is only used as a last resort and people will normally wear a wrist brace in order to relieve the pain and pressure.

Carpal tunnel syndrome can also be very costly, as many are required to take leaves of absence from work to deal with the disabling effects of this increasingly painful condition. Such pain and altering of daily life often leads to depression and anxiety as people struggle to cope with the unknown factor of whether or not they will ever regain full use of their hands again without pain and without surgery.

Many sufferers are thrilled to find that carpal tunnel massage is very effective at rejuvenating the median nerve and relieving its compression. The same massage techniques should also be applied to the back, shoulder, and neck areas since it is possible the source of the aggravation originated from one of these areas. With consistent daily massage, a significant reduction in pain will be realized. If the massage techniques are continued for several months it is entirely possible to reverse the effects of carpal tunnel syndrome as the median nerve becomes relieved and normal functions return.

By combining the use of range of motion exercises, such as extending, stretching and holding the hands in a position where the palms face out as the fingertips point upwards, before straightening the wrists and allowing the fingers to relax again, the median nerve can benefit. Also, making and releasing a tight fist several times while slowly rotating the hands at the wrist joints can also help.

Overall, carpal tunnel syndrome can be treated with massage techniques and exercises that can restore proper nerve functioning. However, the best action one can take against carpal tunnel syndrome is to prevent its onset by proper posture, frequent rest of the hands, daily exercise and regular massages for people who work in environments that require repetitive hand movements or back strains that can lead to arm and wrist injuries.

Carpal tunnel syndrome does not have to result in surgery and those that are afflicted with it should begin a massage and exercise regimen immediately and should definitely do so before opting for surgery.

More and more doctors and specialists recognize the necessity of basic stretchning and exercises when treating carpal tunnel patients. Surgery is often ineffective and difficult to recover from.. Let Tom Nicholson, a man who has been teaching those who suffer from CTS for years, show you how to ease your own suffering.

If you haven’t explored the other options of alleviating the symptoms of carpel tunnel syndromes apart from popping an aspirin when the pain occurs, you may be in for a surprise. There are many ways of smart working, healthy routines and simple exercises which can give you carpel tunnel relief.

However, your hands are the tools you work with and taking care of them will ensure that you keep working for ever. You can ensure that your hands remain in a good condition by some simple tricks and tips. Nevertheless, it’s your hands that do everything for you and somehow they are the most abused and ignored body part. We really take them for granted all the time. However, let’s understand something about carpal tunnel syndrome before we can really pay attention to our hands.

The definition of carpal tunnel syndrome is just a compression of the median nerve where it runs through the transverse carpal ligament at the wrist area. The transverse carpal ligament binds the ligaments in your wrist and gives you strength, leverage, and functionality. However, when the transverse carpal ligament becomes compressed through strain, pressure, and tension, it in turn compresses the wrist area. The root of this condition is repetitive motion for extended periods of time in combination with bad posture.

The symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome can be annoying and debilitating. Generally something needs to be done relatively quickly or the symptoms will continue to grow unabated. The symptoms include a weakness, numbness or coldness in the hands, wrists, arms and fingers. This can radiate up the arm to the elbow as well. In some very extreme cases, a tingling in the fingers or even loss of functionality in the fingers and hands can occur. This leads to additional problems such as back strain as you work to adjust your posture in favor of your pained hands. Imagine trying to work through all that pain!

The carpel tunnel syndrome may manifest itself in form of some pretty irritating and unbearable symptoms. Normally, it’s recommended that some kind of action should be taken fast else the condition worsens with time. Numbness, weakness and coldness in the wrists, arms, fingers and hands are the classic symptoms of this condition which can be even felt in the elbow and the arms at times. Tingling in the fingers and sensation and functionality loss in the fingers and hands may also be symptoms in extreme cases. This may also cause back strain and related problems since the pain in the hands may cause you to adjust your posture to compensate. The pain can be really a problem and working can be a nightmare!

So, what other options are available? You’ll find that doing stretches to reduce the strain on your fingers, hands, and wrists can alleviate long-term carpal tunnel pain. Taking breaks often will disseminate the stress from your problem areas. Also, good posture on a more regular basis will solve the root cause of much of your carpal tunnel symptoms and allow you to continue being productive.

Don’t go in for surgery unless it’s the last option left!

The Carpal Tunnel symptoms include a weakness, numbness or coldness in the hands, wrists, arms and fingers. This can radiate up the arm to the elbow as well. If you want to experience less pain try carpal tunnel exercises.

Using one’s hands on the job is important for success in most careers. Some jobs require workers to use their hands more than others, for example, word processing or data entry in an office, or manual labor like construction. Using your hands is necessary to accomplish important job-related work, whether this involves creating a spreadsheet, using a screw driver, or compiling reports. This is why carpal tunnel syndrome can be such a devastating condition.

Many of us completely disregard our hands and wrists. We tap away at our keyboards, without a thought for proper positioning or ergonomics. For example, many people put unnecessary pressure on the wrists or lean forward on the elbows. For those who do manual labor, poor posture while performing tasks like drilling, hammering, or sanding can lead to exhaustion. A few hours of this won’t cause long term problems, but unfortunately, performing these same repetitive tasks day after day can eventually lead to carpal tunnel symptoms.

You might be wondering what exactly carpal tunnel syndrome is. In simple terms, this condition occurs when the median nerve inside the wrist is compressed. This happens when the transverse carpal ligament is tightened and stressed due to repetitive injury. This ligament is what gives you support and leverage to move your hands and wrists. The resulting inflammation presses on the median nerve, causing pain and limited mobility in the hands. Carpal tunnel can have a devastating effect on one’s quality of life, robbing a person of the ability to function optimally without experiencing significant pain.

So, how can you recognize the symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome? If you have this condition, you’ll most certainly notice. Some mild symptoms you may experience including feelings of numbness or tingling in the fingers and hands, as well as pain in the hands, wrists, and sometimes radiating up the forearm. In very extreme cases, people lose the loss of hands and fingers. What you might not realize is that carpal tunnel symptoms aren’t limited to the hands. As the condition progresses, sufferers tend to adjust their positioning to reduce strain on the hands. However, this compensation can result in straining of the shoulders, back, and legs, and in some cases this leads to headaches or back and neck problems.

You’ve probably had one or two of these symptoms before and haven’t thought too much about them, but they can be the beginnings of a very serious problem that could keep you from working. So what solutions are available? The first solution that many people think about is surgery. Carpal tunnel surgery involves the cutting of the transverse carpal ligament and can lead to even more complications down the road.

What you should do instead is use exercises and stretches to alleviate your carpal tunnel symptoms. Every few hours throughout the work day, stand and stretch your body. This will help loosen and relax all of your muscles, including those in your arms and hands. Next, gently bend and flex your wrists from front to back. This ensures that you don’t stay in any one position for too long, and helps break the cycle of repetitive motion that could cause CTS.

The experience of many CTS sufferers has shown that exercises and stretching can effectively relieve the symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome. This routine becomes far more appealing when you consider that the alternative is an expensive and risky surgery.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome often abbreviated as the acronym CTS, is an illness that manifests itself in parasthesia, numbness, and weakness in the hand or hands. Parasthesia is numbness or prickling feelings, colloquially known as “pins and needles”. The primary cause is the compression of the median nerve at the wrist. The condition can be treated with carpal tunnel exercises using yoga.

The wrist contains the carpal tunnel, a tunnel-like structure that houses the median nerve and flexor tendons for the fingers. If the tunnel constricts or if the contents swell, the median nerve is compressed. The causes of most cases of CTS are unknown; most of the risk is attributed to genetic factors, and environmental factors — such as excess use — are disputed.

CTS is often a misdiagnosis for Repetitive Strain Injury, or RSI. In RSI, prolonged periods of repetitive use of the hands can cause pain, numbness, and weakness. This is a common complaint among those who spend a lot of time typing on a keyboard of some description. Though there is little medical evidence to prove its existence, RSI has become recognized as one of the risks of modern living.

Even though RSI and CTS are not actually related, they both have similar traits. In the medical world you won’t find a true connection, but the symptoms make people believe one may entice the other. All you need to know is that overuse of the hands can cause excess fluids to build up. Mix this in with swelling around the flexor tendons and you’ll find yourself with carpal tunnel. In the end it all compresses the median nerve.

The good news is CTS can be prevented by changing your lifestyle and habits. Whether it’s reorganizing your work place, doing yoga exercises or just taking breaks throughout the day can help prevent or control your carpal tunnel. The important thing to start out with is readjusting your computer monitor, keyboard and mouse. This promotes you to sit properly at your desk all day, which in turn alleviates some of the pressure related to the median nerve. Even by keeping your hands warm can be a good thing to do throughout the day. It’s not the total solution, but it definitely moves you towards preventing carpal tunnel syndrome.

When you look over all the information related to carpal tunnel, there are several treatments available. Choosing the right one for you shouldn’t be too difficult, but we’ll go over them anyways. First, you can go ahead and have surgery, but the constant visits to the doctor and going through rehab can be mentally and financially draining. Then of course you can get a couple quick shots of steroids in, but this is only a short-term solution. Then of course the little things like modifications at work and taking frequent breaks are all ways to help your carpal tunnel.

Carpal tunnel exercises are probably the most important part of your prevention and healing process. If you can hold off on all the other drastic attempts to repair CTS, taking advantage of yoga is the easy way out. You will find yourself enjoying a healing process for your carpal tunnel, as well as other issues you may have with the body in other regions. The end result will always be a healthier you.

Anyone who faces a computer screen for a long time each day, tapping the keyboard like mad to meet deadlines, needs to keep the danger of carpal tunnel syndrome in mind. Excessive and repetitive stress on the joints can cause people to develop the problem; resulting in serious pain that can even prevent you from using your keyboard. There is, however, a solution to strengthen the joints and reduce the pain that comes with the symptoms – carpal tunnel exercises using yoga. By using yoga, you become more aware of your body, your mind and your soul’s needs.

But how exactly do carpal tunnel exercises using yoga work?

Healing the Body

Our society is built around traditional medicine, various surgeries, and different casts or splints to repair carpal tunnel. So whenever the pain comes along, the place we go is usually the doctor. However, you don’t have to do this anymore. Yoga exercises have become a long term solution to all the previous temporary versions.

Instead, you should be focusing on strengthening your body. It’s one of the best ways to treat CTS and a lot easier than going through surgery. The way it works is you use yoga exercises to slowly apply strain to the muscles and ligaments. The result is that the light strain will build them stronger and make a more them more durable.

Once you are able to stretch your muscles, this type of carpal tunnel exercise will help your median nerve. The conclusion is it takes away the pain of CTS. Most importantly you won’t find yourself spending large sums of money on costly procedures. All it takes is a little time and the healing process will begin.

Mental Healing with Yoga

The body is not the only thing that is healed with yoga exercises, the mind is also given the appropriate relaxation it needs when an individual undergoes the various exercises and positions that make up yoga exercises.

This all starts with understanding the connection between the body and mind. If you do any sort of research, you’ll notice that professionals like psychologists and priests, will have the same conclusion although they go about it in different ways. The end result is that the mind’s condition affects the body in a substantiated way. Keep in mind it wind this approach means the body affects the mind as well.

Carpal tunnel exercises using yoga addresses both physical and mental healing, making yoga so effective in the healing process. A stressed and conflicted mind makes problems worse; just look at the difference between cancer patients who survive by being strong and cancer patients who die because they gave up on life.
