			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>More commonly known in Australia as the butternut pumpkin, butternut squash is actually a fruit. It grows on a vine and originated in central America. As it becomes ripe the colour will turn more orange and taste sweeter.</p>
<p>Squash is very healthy containing large quantities of fibre, vitamins (A and C), magnesium, potassium and manganese. During the warmer months it is imported from Argentina but in Britain is grows between autumn and the winter.</p>
<p>It is a good fruit for the kitchen as it can go into a lot of dishes. Curry, soup and different bakes are well suited and in Africa it is often baked with nutmeg and cinnamon.</p>
<p>When preparing the squash you must peel off all skin (a good potato peeler is adequate) and remove all the seeds. For this just cut through the middle and scrape out the seeds the a spoon. This will only take a few minutes and shouldn&#8217;t put you off using a squash.</p>
<p>Some supermarkets will sell you a &#8220;here&#8217;s what I made earlier&#8221; squash, with the skin and seeds already removed. However, buying a prepared squash will probably have less of the healthy stuff so I prefer to prepare it myself. You also want it to come in at around a kilo, you want it firm, no green on the skin and it should sound hollow to the tap.</p>
<p>When storing squash the best place is a dark, cool cupboard in the kitchen. I prefer not to put it in the refrigerator because the wet atmosphere can cause it to rot. If you buy a few in a sale and want to keep them over a longer time there is nothing stopping you freezing squash. I recommend removing the skin and seeds first though, and perhaps chopping into cubes before sticking them in the freezer. You could always make a squash soup instead to freeze.</p>

<p>Out of all the different weight loss surgeries out there, without a doubt the safest and the one with the most advantages would be the adjustable gastric band. This is also known as the lapband. When you compare it with the other weight lost surgeries, it&#8217;s safe, effective, and minimally invasive. With this in mind, what exactly are the benefits of choosing lapband surgery over the other options?</p>
<p>First off, the lapband surgery is a proven procedure. Not only has it been performed worldwide, with over 400,000 surgeries performed, but numerous of clinic studies on its safety and efficacy has proven this.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>One of the best habits that anybody can develop is eating healthily. Healthy eating habits goes a long way in maintaining your health. As the old adage goes, &#8216;We are what we eat&#8217;. Aside from doing exercise routines, eating healthily is the other side of the equation.</p>
<p>The conditions for healthy eating are much different than it was a generation ago. No longer is a healthy diet about eating &#8216;three square meals&#8217; per day. In fact, this expression originated from the British navy, referring to the wooden square plates that cooks used to serve food. While the naval diet is not exactly healthy (as you may know, Scurvy was a common disease in the Seven Seas), the tips outlined below are sure to keep your body energized:</p>
<p>* Watch how many calories you eat. Do not eat too much or too little. As a general rule of thumb, the recommended value per day is 2000 calories. There are other factors to consider, however, such as age, height, weight, and amount of physical activity.</p>
<p>* Eat a wide variety of food. Do not just eat within one food group all the time. You should maintain a healthy diet that includes vegetables, whole grains, and fruits. Feel free to explore different foods!</p>
<p>* Eat the proper serving. Nowadays, restaurants give you portions that are way too large, which contributes to the obesity rates everywhere. The word &#8216;supersize&#8217; has unfortunately entered our vocabulary. In other cultures, the food portions are much smaller (and consequently much less expensive). The next time you dine out at a restaurant, split up any large restaurant dishes between multiple people. Not only do you save money, but you are also eating healthier!</p>
<p>* As mentioned before, eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. Your body needs a fine balance of complex carbohydrates (or whole grains, such as whole wheat and brown rice). These are used more slowly in your body, thus keeping you full for a longer period of time. Fresh organic local produce is also highly recommended.</p>
<p>* Drink lots of water. Although the myth of drinking 8 glasses of water per day has been debunked, we should still drink plenty of fluids daily. Water is one of the healthiest substances in this planet. Our bodies are consists of 80% water.</p>
<p>* Eat less refined sugar, salt, and grain. We put excessive amounts of unhealthy condiments into our food. While it makes our meals taste better, it also contributes to an unhealthy lifestyle. Too much sugar contributes to diabetes and obesity, while too much salt may give us heart problems. A recent study shows that Canadians eat 50% too much sodium, contributing to a wide variety of health problems.</p>
<p>* Exercise regularly. Eating a healthy diet is only part of the equation. If you add in routine physical activity, you can further improve your well-being.</p>
<p>Eating healthily is a step by step process. All of the tips above should not be implemented at once. Instead, you should slowly work these habits into your life at a pace that makes you feel comfortable. The best way to develop healthy eating habits is through time, patience, and commitment.</p>

<p>Finding the right diet can be harder than finding a needle in a hay field.</p>
<p>So without further delay, here is what to watch out for when finding the right plan to lose weight:</p>
<p><b>1. Recommended amount of calories.</b> Yes, eating an insanely small amount of calories will help you lose weight, but there will be consequences. And if you go below 1200 calories, the health risks begin to mount.</p>
<p><b>2. Enough carbohydrates.</b> Ignore all the extreme protein diets. You body needs a bare minimum of about 100 grams of carbohydrates a day to spare muscle. Your brain also needs carbohydrates to function properly.</p>
<p><b>3. Inclusion of all food groups.</b> If the plan requires that you exclude a food group, it will most likely be very unhealthy. Why? Because wide varieties of foods interact with each other in ways that we currently do not understand.</p>
<p><b>4. Just enough variety.</b> If the diet calls for a very selective intake of food, you are most likely going to jump ship. Any diet you get on should have just enough variety of food to keep you from straying.</p>
<p><b>5. Affiliate promotions.</b> If you find that the diet plan recommends many products that the author is involved with, then there is probably some bias. Your best bet is to find a plan that does not recommend products the author can profit from.</p>
<p><b>6. Mandatory supplements.</b> Some supplements are very effective, most are not. If the diet you are considering is centered around a single wonder supplement, then you are better off looking the other way. A single supplement will not change the way your body looks.</p>
<p>Wading through all the different diets out there can be very overwhelming. And trying to figure out which ones are based on solid science can be virtually impossible for the average consumer. So follow my tips so that you can make an informed decision.</p>

<p>Adolescence is the usual age group attacked with a skin condition called acne. Generally, acne is often synonymous to pimples but skin acne is actually a condition that also includes blackheads and whiteheads. Pimples which have pus inside are also different from the cyst like formation on the skin. </p>
<p>Having acne causes a lot of people to hide their faces from friends, family and colleagues. People with acne have low self esteem especially when the skin condition is recurring and severe. Having acne can go from mild condition to extreme cases. The presence of acne is sometimes attributed to hereditary factors and stress levels of patients. Although there are also claims that acne is caused by some food particularly fatty foods, this has yet to be clinically proven.</p>
<p>In order to impede the severity of acne on your skin, you can employ some acne skin care regimen that can be effective and inexpensive. There are acne or general skin cleansers available in the market to remove excess oil, make-up and dirt from your skin. You can also try some mild soap and facial cleansers for immediate cleansing of the skin from sweat. Make sure that the cleansers do not have adverse effects on your skin. You can also use some sunscreen when outdoors in order not to further aggravate the skin condition. </p>
<p>But if you are unlucky and already have acne on your face, some acne skin care products are readily available. Moisturizers will help lock in the moisture needed by your skin to rejuvenate. Check the back label of the product that you are buying and know your skin history and allergies before applying or trying anything on your face. Use non-abrasive cleanser and change it or discontinue use at the onset of any redness or itchiness. </p>
<p>If it is still on the mild stages, creams and lotions can be applied on the affected areas. These can be bought over the counter or without prescription. But if you realize that it doesn&#8217;t do any good on your skin after weeks of usage, you better check with your doctor so he or she can recommend the best oral treatment or antibiotics for you. Antibiotics that have salicylic and sulfur content will most likely work well for your acne problem. </p>
<p>If the immediate relief and topical treatments are not working for you, then you may already have a severe case of acne that would require a more intensive treatment. Severe acne causes inflammation, deep cysts and scarring. You may have to undergo more procedures to solve your skin crisis. </p>
<p>If you are too irritated with skin acne, you may be tempted to touch it often. Picking and popping pimples will only cause more damage to your skin. The acne skin care that you have been doing will simply be futile if you do not behave properly. </p>
<p>It&#8217;s not the time get hardheaded. Follow what the dermatologist tells you so you live your live again acne-free.</p>

<p>Unfortunately, a little caloric restriction is necessary for maximum arm fat loss. You need to master the restriction of calories, however, in order to prevent yourself from feeling hungry all the time.</p>
<p>So what can you do? Learn how to master your satiety, the feeling of fullness you get in between meals.</p>
<p>So here&#8217;s how to lose arm fat by feeling full all the time:</p>
<p><b>1. The amount of fiber in your meal.</b> Fiber plays an important role in how full you feel. The bulk it creates in your stomach will send a strong signal to your brain that you&#8217;ve had enough to eat. Just be careful with supplementation. Some research has shown that it can increase colon cancer risk.</p>
<p><b>2. Foods high in protein.</b> Dietary protein causes a lot of thermogenesis when compared to other foods, and it also creates a sense of fullness. In fact, if you compare all the macronutrients side by side, protein has the greatest effect on satiety.</p>
<p><b>3. The amount of fat in your meal.</b> The more the merrier. Fat causes a feel full hormone to be released in your body. It also slows down digestion which is beneficial for arm fat loss. Just be careful with going overboard here because fat does have a lot of calories.</p>
<p><b>4. Blood sugar.</b> Having fast digesting meals is a sure fire way to feel hungry despite a high caloric intake. Now if you haven&#8217;t been eating clean for a while, you may have grown accustomed to this level of hunger. But trust me, you shouldn&#8217;t be feeling this hungry. Stick to low glycemic foods as much as possible.</p>
<p><b>5. Water.</b> Now I&#8217;m not talking about drinking water here because if you drink too much it will go straight to your kidneys. I&#8217;m talking about the water in your food. Foods highest in water volume will make you feel the fullest.</p>
<p>Consistent loss of arm fat requires consistent mastery of hunger levels. And if hunger overtakes you, bingeing is likely to ensue. Unfortunately, bingeing can set back your sexy arm mission many steps.</p>

<p>Losing weight can be as difficult psychologically as it is physically. It can become a struggle if we have to make family meals; eating our own meagre diet whilst still having to prepare tempting fare for the others. How can we improve our lot, and continue to please the family?</p>
<p>First off we need to tackle the amount we eat. Whatever food we consume, if we take in less of it we&#8217;ll lose weight. It&#8217;s pleasing to see a plateful of food at the beginning of our meal &#8211; so eat from one that&#8217;s smaller than everyone else&#8217;s. Eat your food very slowly, chewing every morsel at least twenty times before swallowing. You won&#8217;t always finish your meal ahead of the others then, but you will feel more sated.</p>
<p>Basically you can often eat the same food as your family is eating, but cut down on the amount of rice, pasta, potatoes and fatty meat. Eat more veg to avoid getting too hungry. Just don&#8217;t be tempted to fill up on bread rolls! If you have a sweet tooth, take care not to go overboard. A portion of stewed apple from the crumble is one thing, but treacle sponge and custard is quite another.</p>
<p>But you can get much cannier than that. Serve reduced calorie meals a couple of times a week to everyone &#8211; if they&#8217;re done well they won&#8217;t have a clue! Add garlic and herbs to macaroni, and bulk it out with plenty of veg. Then use a tin of tomatoes to enrich the sauce. Leave out the oil, but maybe add a touch of Greek yoghurt for creaminess.</p>
<p>Pick your meat and dairy items carefully when you shop. There can be a big difference in the calorific value of different beef products for example. The rest of your family will profit from less saturated fat, even if they don&#8217;t have weight issues. For a low-cal high-protein meal, serve turkey or chicken and stick to the skinless breast for yourself. Potatoes can be nice and filling for slimmers &#8211; just buy ones with a creamy texture. You won&#8217;t need to add butter before serving then.</p>
<p>Be careful when you buy cereals as some have a really high sugar content. Again, breakfast bars might look like healthy food, but most are highly sweet and calorific. The sugar content in a lot of drinks is also far too high for dieters. If you love your drinks, stick to sugar free varieties. If you like juice, dilute it with water and add ice!</p>
<p>Alcohol contains a lot of calories, so when you&#8217;re socialising it&#8217;s good to find some alternatives. Try drinking tomato juice with ice or spring water. Watered down apple juice makes a passable wine lookalike if you don&#8217;t want to be different from the crowd.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s obvious that we&#8217;re not going to lose weight if we continue as we are. But it&#8217;s amazing how a small shift here and there can dramatically help along the way.</p>

<p>Diabetes can creep up on us as we get older without us even realizing it. So it is important to know what the type 2 diabetes symptoms are, especially if you are in one of the risk groups for developing this disease.</p>
<p>It may be hard to face the fact that you are entering, or in, middle age. Middle age on its own is only a small risk factor for developing diabetes but it is the time of your life when you really need to sit up and take notice of your body and what you are doing to it.</p>
<p>One of the major factors you are in control of in your battle is your belly. If you are overweight then you are at a increased risk, if you are clinically obese then the risk goes up even more and if all your excess weight is in your belly region then that increases the likelihood that you will develop diabetes even more.</p>
<p>While you can do something about your weight, you can&#8217;t do anything about getting older. When you add middle aged and overweight together you really are increasing the likelihood that you will end up being diabetic at some point.</p>
<p>Middle aged, overweight with high blood pressure. That is a very common situation which often seems to affect Americans, it isn&#8217;t made any better when you add diabetes into the mix. Which if you already have the first 3 things then there is a huge chance you will develop diabetes as well.</p>
<p>Whilst you can&#8217;t do anything about your age, you can do something about your weight. Just reducing your body weight will help reduce your hypertension and the chances of you developing diabetes in later life.</p>
<p>Certain endocrinological diseases &#8211; if you suffer from certain other conditions including metabolic syndrome or Cushing&#8217;s disease, there is an increased risk of developing diabetes.</p>

<p>Are you trying to figure out how to get slim arms? Do you drink lots of juice because you think it&#8217;s healthy? Well the two don&#8217;t mix! Fruit juice has been shown to increase body fat.</p>
<p>Unfortunately, you are bombarded with endless infomercials on why fruit juice is the next best thing since sliced bread. It&#8217;s hard to ignore all that footage of fitness buffs thrusting every type of fruit down the juicer.</p>
<p>How can juice get such a bad rap? Because of sugar. Lots of sugar makes your body secrete lots of insulin. And insulin will block arm fat burning. </p>
<p>And here are 4 more reasons why you should stay away from fruit juice if you want to get thin arms:</p>
<p><b>1. It causes your liver to secrete not so good things.</b> What type of things? Excess fatty acids and bad cholesterol! Now you really do NOT want these two floating around within your body if your main goal is to get thin and slim arms.</p>
<p><b>2. Elite research shows that it increases fat.</b> Peer reviewed research has shown that ONLY 12 oz of fruit juice per day is directly correlated with obesity. Still want to have that giant carafe of freshly squeezed juice?</p>
<p><b>3. Most fruit juice doesn&#8217;t have any pulp or peel.</b> Once the pulp and/or peel is gone, all the fiber is gone as well. And fiber is what will slow down the digestion of the juice. </p>
<p><b>4. Little nutrition.</b> Most of the nutrition is concentrated in the pulp, and more importantly, the peel. So if all you&#8217;re having is the juice, don&#8217;t expect a boost in health. An apple, for instance, loses over 2 times its nutrition without the peel. Not good!</p>
<p>The bottom line here is that fruit juice will only set you back if you&#8217;re serious about getting slim and thin arms. Now I understand that some women really like juice. If this is the case with you, all you have to do is minimize the damage. Simply have small servings of juice and include as much pulp as possible. This will slow down the digestion of the sugar and provide many nutrients as well.</p>
