There is a surplus of diets on the market. And if the experts cannot agree on which diet is best, how are you supposed to choose one?

Finding the right diet can be harder than finding a needle in a hay field.

So without further delay, here is what to watch out for when finding the right plan to lose weight:

1. Recommended amount of calories. Yes, eating an insanely small amount of calories will help you lose weight, but there will be consequences. And if you go below 1200 calories, the health risks begin to mount.

2. Enough carbohydrates. Ignore all the extreme protein diets. You body needs a bare minimum of about 100 grams of carbohydrates a day to spare muscle. Your brain also needs carbohydrates to function properly.

3. Inclusion of all food groups. If the plan requires that you exclude a food group, it will most likely be very unhealthy. Why? Because wide varieties of foods interact with each other in ways that we currently do not understand.

4. Just enough variety. If the diet calls for a very selective intake of food, you are most likely going to jump ship. Any diet you get on should have just enough variety of food to keep you from straying.

5. Affiliate promotions. If you find that the diet plan recommends many products that the author is involved with, then there is probably some bias. Your best bet is to find a plan that does not recommend products the author can profit from.

6. Mandatory supplements. Some supplements are very effective, most are not. If the diet you are considering is centered around a single wonder supplement, then you are better off looking the other way. A single supplement will not change the way your body looks.

Wading through all the different diets out there can be very overwhelming. And trying to figure out which ones are based on solid science can be virtually impossible for the average consumer. So follow my tips so that you can make an informed decision.

If you want to avoid the multitude of negative side effects from high protein diets, your fat loss approach should have a balanced eating plan in place. And balanced eating will give you a lot more energy per calorie of food consumed.

Even if you have the most balanced diet, however, fat storage can still take place. So it will be good for you to understand how different macro nutrients get processed in your body once consumed.

So without further ado, here are the mechanics of eating and fat storage:

1. Sources of energy like carbohydrates. Every single carbohydrate that you consume has to be broken down into units of sugar. This is why you constantly hear how carbs increase blood sugar levels. Once the carbs are broken down, they get stored as either glycogen or fat.

2. Dietary fatty acids. When you eat fat it gets stored as body fat very easily. How so? It gets broken down into fatty acids and glycerol. Having said that, do NOT restrict your fat intake as it is critical for maximizing fat loss hormone production.

3. Steak, fish, poultry. All types of protein, they get broken down into amino acids. These amino acids will then be reconfigured into muscle. But there is a catch: you have to exercise in order for this to happen!

4. Spirits. By spirits I mean alcohol! The Achilles heel of any fat loss hopeful. Why? Because not only does alcohol slow down the rate at which you can burn body fat, but it also gets stored as fat in between your organs. And this is the worst type of fat.

Optimally, you want all the food you eat to be stored as either glycogen or protein in the form of lean tissue. Unfortunately, these stores get filled up very quickly and any excess goes to fat storage. And recall that fat stores have unlimited accumulation capacity.

Also, make sure you do not go overboard with protein just because it has a high thermic effect. Despite this, excess protein does get stored as body fat when too much is consumed. So no matter how you eat, a negative intake is necessary for rapid fat loss.

Unfortunately, a little caloric restriction is necessary for maximum arm fat loss. You need to master the restriction of calories, however, in order to prevent yourself from feeling hungry all the time.

So what can you do? Learn how to master your satiety, the feeling of fullness you get in between meals.

So here’s how to lose arm fat by feeling full all the time:

1. The amount of fiber in your meal. Fiber plays an important role in how full you feel. The bulk it creates in your stomach will send a strong signal to your brain that you’ve had enough to eat. Just be careful with supplementation. Some research has shown that it can increase colon cancer risk.

2. Foods high in protein. Dietary protein causes a lot of thermogenesis when compared to other foods, and it also creates a sense of fullness. In fact, if you compare all the macronutrients side by side, protein has the greatest effect on satiety.

3. The amount of fat in your meal. The more the merrier. Fat causes a feel full hormone to be released in your body. It also slows down digestion which is beneficial for arm fat loss. Just be careful with going overboard here because fat does have a lot of calories.

4. Blood sugar. Having fast digesting meals is a sure fire way to feel hungry despite a high caloric intake. Now if you haven’t been eating clean for a while, you may have grown accustomed to this level of hunger. But trust me, you shouldn’t be feeling this hungry. Stick to low glycemic foods as much as possible.

5. Water. Now I’m not talking about drinking water here because if you drink too much it will go straight to your kidneys. I’m talking about the water in your food. Foods highest in water volume will make you feel the fullest.

Consistent loss of arm fat requires consistent mastery of hunger levels. And if hunger overtakes you, bingeing is likely to ensue. Unfortunately, bingeing can set back your sexy arm mission many steps.

by Katherine Crawford M.S.

Every so called expert has an opinion on how to lose arm fat. Some opinions are sound, others are borderline laughable.

How did this come to be? Well, there is a LOT of money to be made selling fitness products. So marketers are constantly trying to come up with new angles and new “one hit wonders.” You might be having a hard time figuring out what sources to trust.

Well, unless you have a PhD in exercise science, this can become quite a challenge-nearly impossible.

So without further ado, here are 4 lies about how to lose arm fat:

1. Formulas are the end all be all. Some formulas are more accurate than others. And although they provide a basic starting point for how many calories you should be eating, do NOT assume their values are accurate. In some cases, they will be very off target.

2. If it doesn’t hurt, it’s not working. Many fitness gurus claim that arm fat loss has be painful. Yet I disagree. I believe that if nutrition and exercise are implemented the right way, you can actually increase energy levels while restricting calories. The key here is to have lots of nutrients and lots of resistance training.

3. You have to eat less calories FOREVER. Once you lose your target amount of arm fat, you should be able to eat a little more than baseline without excess fat gain. Why? Because your insulin sensitivity, muscle mass and metabolic rate will be much higher. Just make sure you lift weights so that you can enjoy these benefits.

4. Hunger pangs are a given. This statement only holds true if you go overboard with caloric restriction. Otherwise, there are many ways to virtually eliminate hunger pangs and cravings. One approach is to use herbal teas. Yerba mate is the most powerful one and can completely knock out cravings, no joke! Sugar substitutes are yet another tool for cancelling out that sweet tooth craving.

There is an excess of information out there on how to lose arm fat. And if something sounds too good to be true, then it probably is! So use some common sense when analyzing information and try to stay away from outdated advice!

by Paula Moore

I was at a genuine low point in my life when I sat down at the computer one night and discovered Fat Loss for Idiots reviews when searching for weight loss programs. I was looking for answers online – answer to why I could not get inspired to shed off pounds. I’ve got books on the subject and watch all those shows on the telly where folks go on diets and exercise for 6 hours per day. I might drink beer and eat chips watching those programs, wishing I could shed the pounds, too.

I was feeling quite low that night when I started to read what others were claiming about the Fat Loss for Idiots program. I had not heard about it and I found the basic premise of the diet quite engaging. It was one of the most unusual diet plans i’d ever heard about, and I thought I’d heard it all!

The basis of the diet was not about cutting back on food and eating less carbs or calories. There was no counting points, either. It was about mixing up your food consumption and combining different foods. It was about eating different amounts of food each day and following a new idea called Shifting Calories. When you arrange your food intake, your body doesn’t understand how to deal with the calories. It goes into shock and becomes confused. So what does it do? It starts burning stored fat! How great is that?

I totally bought into the whole confusion thing. I was post-menopausal and my body didn’t want to give up any fat in the slightest. The concept of shocking it into some weight loss action was extremely interesting. As I read more about it, sitting in front of my computer, reading what people thought of the diet and issuing cautions about how quick the weight loss is, the more I knew I had to try it.

I gave in. I just had to see what it was all about. I initiated the Fat Loss for Idiots program with great passion, eager to see what this shifting calories theory would do for my poor old fifty plus body. I got the meal plans and away I went!

I was expecting lettuce and carrot sticks and dry tuna on melba toast. You know, standard diet fare. But instead, I got a real mixture of food, each day. I got up in the morning, raring to see what unusual mixtures of food I’d get that day. It was easily followed, especially for someone who eats on the run like I do. My kids and grandkids are a large part of my life and I’m always taking them somewhere. I enjoyed eating real food and not woofing down high-fat fast food whenever I went out.

So, after the 1st eleven days I had dropped 6 pounds. That’s just about three pounds a week and for someone like me, I was really delighted. Those eleven days went by incredibly fast because Fat Loss for Idiots was such a neat program.

Truthfully, all diets can offer you results. There’s the all apple diet, where you eat nothing but apples and sure, you’ll drop some pounds. But you will not keep it up. Fat Loss for Idiots was so different that it kept your motivation level up high. No need for daily affirmations and psychological arguments with yourself about whether or not you should cheat. I’d endorse it in a heart beat. You’ve got everything to lose!

Whenever you start a fat loss program, you should have some way of measuring your progress. Unfortunately, most people simply look at the scale and end up extremely unmotivated.

Well, the weight scale fails to take into account many variables that change as your body composition improves. In fact, your weight could be going up while your body fat is going down! Thus, you need an accurate way of measuring your progress in order to truly know whether or not you should stick with your program.

Having said that, you should know that not all methods for testing body composition are equally effective.

So here is a quick guide to body fat testing:

1. Fat fold tests. Performed with skin calipers, fat fold tests are relatively accurate when done by an experienced professional. The key here is to make sure that the same person takes your measurements every single time. And also keep in mind that I have seen even the most highly skilled testers come up with skewed measurements.

2. Underwater weighing. You have to get wet with this one, and some people are not up for the inconvenience. This measurement basically estimates how dense your body is. The more density the more lean tissue. Remember that muscle is much more dense than fat. Unfortunately, the preparation and requirements for this type of testing leaves little to be desired?

3. Conductivity. You have seen the machines that perform this test all over the place. They are relatively inexpensive and easy to use. They send an electrical current through your body to determine just how much body fat you are holding. Unfortunately, they are extremely inaccurate.

4. The absorptiometry machine. Also known as DEXA, this method provides extremely accurate readings and requires very little preparation. It sends some x-rays through your body and measures levels of body fat and lean tissue. The one major drawback? Expense.

Of the methods described in this article, I would recommend staying away from electrical tests, they are simply too inaccurate. Other than that, the main factor affecting accuracy will be the skill of the technician performing the measurements. So use the same reliable person over and over again.

by Katherine Crawford M.S.

Night eating syndrome is thin arm enemy #1.

What is night eating syndrome? In a nutshell, it’s when you eat very little during the day and gorge at night. If you have night eating syndrome, your levels of melatonin, leptin and serotonin will be lower.

But before you get all worked up, you first have to figure out whether or not you even have NES. So do you present any of the following:

1. No breakfast. The complete skipping of breakfast, and in extreme cases lunch, is a cardinal sign of NES. Do you bolt out of your house every morning without having ANYTHING to eat?

2. Lower mental focus during the day. When you skimp on proper nutrition during the earlier parts of the day, your mental abilities will be drastically reduced. You’re also more likely to suffer from depressive emotions.

3. Lots of late night awakenings. Perhaps one of the most debilitating aspects of NES, these late night awakenings will destroy your sleeping patterns. And they are usually accompanied by lots of carbohydrate consumption. Not good if you want to get slim arms!

4. Eat lots of carbohydrates at night. The reduced mood is usually compensated for by gorging on carbohydrates at night. If you find yourself loading up on pasta at night, you may have NES.

5. Feelings of anxiety at night. If you feel high strung or anxious when eating, you’re most likely compensating with food. The pairing of negative emotions and food intake is another tell tale sign of NES.

6. Family history of NES. NES runs in families. So if multiple family members have it, then your chances of having it are much higher.

Not only is living with NES unhealthy, but it will also blunt any efforts to get thin and slim arms. So you have to seek help if you can’t get rid of it on your own. Doing so will improve your quality of life substantially. And you’ll finally be able to get the sexy arms you want and deserve.

Are you trying to figure out how to get slim arms? Do you drink lots of juice because you think it’s healthy? Well the two don’t mix! Fruit juice has been shown to increase body fat.

Unfortunately, you are bombarded with endless infomercials on why fruit juice is the next best thing since sliced bread. It’s hard to ignore all that footage of fitness buffs thrusting every type of fruit down the juicer.

How can juice get such a bad rap? Because of sugar. Lots of sugar makes your body secrete lots of insulin. And insulin will block arm fat burning.

And here are 4 more reasons why you should stay away from fruit juice if you want to get thin arms:

1. It causes your liver to secrete not so good things. What type of things? Excess fatty acids and bad cholesterol! Now you really do NOT want these two floating around within your body if your main goal is to get thin and slim arms.

2. Elite research shows that it increases fat. Peer reviewed research has shown that ONLY 12 oz of fruit juice per day is directly correlated with obesity. Still want to have that giant carafe of freshly squeezed juice?

3. Most fruit juice doesn’t have any pulp or peel. Once the pulp and/or peel is gone, all the fiber is gone as well. And fiber is what will slow down the digestion of the juice.

4. Little nutrition. Most of the nutrition is concentrated in the pulp, and more importantly, the peel. So if all you’re having is the juice, don’t expect a boost in health. An apple, for instance, loses over 2 times its nutrition without the peel. Not good!

The bottom line here is that fruit juice will only set you back if you’re serious about getting slim and thin arms. Now I understand that some women really like juice. If this is the case with you, all you have to do is minimize the damage. Simply have small servings of juice and include as much pulp as possible. This will slow down the digestion of the sugar and provide many nutrients as well.

The amazing reaction to Top Secret Fat Loss Secret, when it was released, must have surprised even the researcher and author, Dr. Suzanne Gudakunst.

The number of reviews and reports about this controversial book is extensive and it received much more notice than other diet programs of the day. Dr. Gudakunst was subjected to criticism, praise, ridicule and even death threats, in response to her ground-breaking research and theories. Her theories completely turned the dieting world upside down.

So, who is this Dr. Suzanne Gudakunst? She is a medical doctor from Arizona who discovered a link between being over-weight and having intestinal problems. She started studying obese patients in 2002 and discovered that over-weight folk also had diseased colons, and applied herself to finding out more. The results of her research have been recorded in her book, the Top Secret Fat Loss Secrets.

When she started to treat obese patients by cleansing and detoxing their intestinal tract, they all lost large amounts of weight in a short amount of time. She refined and repeated the process and had the same results. Her theory was that it was not possible to lose weight while the intestines were diseased and blocked, and once cleared, the patients easily lost weight and improved their general health and quality of life.

The theory behind the discovery is based on the doctor’s claim that our bodies are all susceptible to plaque on the digestive tract and invasion from parasites throughout the intestines. Both these factors affect the absorption of nutrients from the food we eat, and without these nutrients our bodies can’t function the way they should. Without proper nutrition, our bodies become diseased which accounts for the numbers of deaths from cancer.

One of the strategies of Fat Loss Secrets is to flush away the plaque and parasites to leave the digestive tract clean and able to function properly. While Fat Loss Secrets has been described as just another detox diet, there is more to it than that.

Despite the high volume of hype that surrounds Dr. Gudakunst’s book and the flamboyant language used on the sales page, this weight loss program could be just the thing for the many overweight people who have tried to lose weight but failed. Look past all the hype to find out if this plan will help you.

Nowhere, in all the reports and reviews, is the ‘secret’ revealed; you have to buy the book to read all about it. Fortunately, it will only cost you $37 (although there is a more expensive option too), so you are not taking much of a risk to find out what the secret is. Your purchase is backed up by a good money-back-guarantee, so you can buy with confidence.

Testimonials from satisfied customers rave about how they lost lots of weight fast, and how well they now feel. These, coupled with amount of controversy that has accompanied the book’s release should be enough to make you want to find out what the “secret” is.

Nutrition for getting sexy arms isn’t too complex. Especially if you ignore all the fads.

However, there are certain situations when basic nutrition just won’t do-some advanced techniques are called for.

One tricky area is when you exercise very early in the morning. Since your body is coming out of a fasted state, you have to be very precise with your nutrition.

So here is your early morning nutrition guide for getting rid of fat arms:

1. Drink water before anything else. You have to rehydrate your dehydrated body ASAP. You also need to drink enough water so that you can digest breakfast.

2. If you’re going to exercise 3 hours after waking up. Have a full breakfast with food items from the following groups: protein, carbohydrates, fat and vegetables. This is the schedule I personally recommend.

3. Exercising 1 hour after rising. Two slices of whole grain bread with any type of nut butter should do. You could use almond butter, peanut butter, or my favorite, sunflower seed butter. Just make sure that your bread doesn’t have added sugar.

4. When the workout is 10 minutes upon waking. You could make your own shake with an easily digestible carb like maltodextrin or dextrose, and add in some casein protein. Alternatively, you could have a supplement like power gel.

I understand that you may have a very hectic and “tight” schedule. However, I strongly recommend against working out 10 minutes upon waking up. It’s extremely difficult for the female body to digest any type of food or supplement within such a short time frame. You’re likely to burn through a lot of muscle if you do this. Not good if you want to get rid of arm fat and get sexy arms!
